Your comments: Derrick Mason traded by Jets to Texans

Elsa/Getty ImagesDerrick Mason was traded to the Houston Texans for a conditional draft pick. Derrick Mason had been slow to pick up the Jets’ offense and was demoted in favor of rookie receiver Jeremy Kerley on Sunday. Now, he’s been traded. The Jets sent Mason to the Houston Texans for a conditional draft pick, reports The Star-Ledger’s Jenny Vrentas. Mason, 37, had just 13 catches for 115 yards. The discussion among NJ.com users is about the Jets’ decision to let go of Braylon Edwards and Jerricho Cotchery in favor of Mason and Plaxico Burress. From jetsetchrebet: Seeing that neither Braylon Edwards or Jerricho Cotchery have seen any action (4 catches among the two of them) maybe we can pull them back in and finish off what we started last year. I knew releasing them was going to hurt Gang Green From oldtimer76: Hated losing Cotchery, but he would be sitting on our sidelines as well. He may be done due to the back surgery he required for all the years of sacrificing himself for the good of our team. Nothing but Kudos for him. Edwards… I think they got tired of his hijinks time and time again. It is a shame because he is such a talent! I truly feel Kerley will be an upgrade from all 3 of the receivers no longer here, and it seems he and Sanchez have a little chemistry going… Sanchez had none with Mason. Time will tell, but a win this Monday (no easy task) will begin the hike out of the hole we have dug. What are your thoughts on the Mason trade and the wide receivers?
