Valdese Family Friday Nights Free Summer Concert Series Begins This Friday

The Valdese Family Friday Night series begins its season on May 4th in the Town/Wells Fargo parking lot with two great Bluegrass bands. Beginning at 7 p.m., three musicians from Valdese, known as 28690 (Valdese Zip Code) will be performing.  The group was formed in the summer of 2010 and has been strongly influenced by legendary and regional artists such as Doc Watson, Bobby Denton ad Tommy Faile. Their music consists of Traditional, Appalachian Folk, Blues and Country with a unique blend of Finger style and flat picking with a bass. The members are Rick Ogle, Byron Pearson and Brian Deal. The local talent of The Laurel Creek Band will continue the evening with Bluegrass music and begin playing at 8 p.m. This group brings over 40 years of playing experience and always promises to provide an entertaining evening. The band consists of Bobby Denton, vocals/banjo/guitar, Freddy Beach, lead vocals/guitar, Keith Coffey, fiddle/vocals, David Withrow, dobro, and Rex Annas on bass. Myra’s will continue their Friday Night Cruise-Ins at 6 p.m. with over 100 antique and classic cars on display. Several merchants will keep their doors open late for those that like to do a little shopping. The Family Friday Nights will continue through August and is sponsored by the Town of Valdese, the Valdese Merchants Association and the News Herald.
