Tony Parker Is Reportedly On the Trading Block, But Is This A Good Thing?
Every good era runs its course.
For the Chicago Bulls, their run of dominance eventually came to an end, and so have so many other dynasties in the past.
The San Antonio Spurs are a veteran, aging group, with few championship runs, if any, left in them. Tony Parker admitted as much after the season, and for a franchise that has made championships its singular goal, those comments are unacceptable.
Parker has given San Antonio plenty of great basketball, but right now, the Spurs are tossing him around the trade market, looking to move up into the lottery to get a big man of the future that can help the franchise transition from the Tim Duncan era.
If San Antonio wants to inject youth into its team without sacrificing too much, trading Parker is the only way to do it.
Trading Manu Ginobili is a non-option and moving Parker, who has had his issues over the past year, makes sense if the Spurs have a guy they believe can help carry the franchise into the future.

Parker, despite his talents, is not the future of the San Antonio Spurs, and sometimes, you have to part with the past to make way for the future, and with each passing year, the window of this team gets smaller and smaller.
San Antonio is one of the smartest, most well-run franchises in all of basketball, and if they’re willing to trade Parker to move that far up in the draft, it obviously has big plans in mind.
However, if a team is going to trade for him, it would obviously have to believe it could make a run with the aging point guard.
None of the teams at the top of the lottery can do that, and in the end, that will be the undoing of these rumors, no matter how eager San Antonio is to move him.
