Why so surprised and all the exclamations of oh my god. Cruise has always been able to act and always puts in so much energy into his performances. And well we all saw Risky Business and the dancing scene in the loungeroom. Looking forward to seeing the new film Tommy.

Tom Cruise couldn’t act his way out of a wet paper bag. Most overrated star of his generation.

Macca, I’m not sure what your acting credentials are but, like him or loathe him (or do either in turns) Tom Cruise is one of those performers you can’t take your eyes off. Everybody told me what a dog of a movie "Knight & Day" was, but I thought it rocked. It takes a performer like Cruise who can work out there on the edge of crazy to pull that off, and yes, I will be watching "Rock of Ages".

"Most overrated star of his generation."
Are you referring to Cate blanchett? known for her overacting and cliched performances.

Interesting that his ‘singing’ ability has also improved with improvements in auto-tune and miming. Last time I heard him sing he couldn’t: youtube.com/watch?v=LTbASqoqH3Q

If you’ve seen him in Magnolia, you’ll know he can pull this off. And I’m not even a fan….

His life seems a little weird from afar but he sure can act and he always gives it his best.Macca, ever see a film called Born on the 4th of July? And what have you achieved in this life to so easily disregard this man’s many achievements? Can you fly jet airplanes?

OK, I think Tom Cruise is a d*ck as much as the next person, and probabaly shouldn’t really open his mouth on any subject when he’s not on set. But as an actor, he’s been one of the best of recent decades, and good on him for taking on the challenge of this role. Just don’t tell me anything about his family or ‘religion’ ever again.

@eponetara – thought the exact same thing when I saw him in this article. PTA did great things with him.
