TweetThe finale of HOUSE M.D., “Everyone Dies” turned out to be Greg House In Hell, a Shavian take on Holmes’ Final Problem. For House, who begins this episode in a burning building with a corpse, the devil had four faces. Each of the four (Kutner, Amber, Stacy, and Cameron) tries in turn to lure House into accepting his or her version of the meaning of life. All these ghosts haunting House’s id represent failures of one sort or another. House did notdetect in advance that Kutner was suicidal. The relationship with Stacy failed despite his best efforts. Cameron could not be made to stay with the team. And although House figured out what was killing Amber, she died anyway. Finally, the solution House selects is the same as the one arrived at by Holmes. It wasn’t a bad way to end things, but you’d have to be Greg House to fully appreciate it.
