NORWOOD — Detectives are investigating what may have been an afternoon abduction and are reaching out to police throughout the county for help. Detective Chris Federici said the possible abduction reportedly happened at around 4:40 p.m. at the intersection of Livingston Street and Broadway. Police first learned of the incident through a 911 call made by a passing motorist. Detectives later interviewed the caller who reported seeing a thin Asian male “force a person wearing jeans and a purple sweater” into a cream-colored, late model SUV. The witness provided police with a license plate “that doesn’t come back to anything,” Federici said. That plate, the detective said, may be “something similar to NSF 141.” Federici said detectives are reaching out to police countywide for help in locating the vehicle. The detective also asks that anyone who may have seen the possible abduction call the Norwood Police Department at (201) 768-0850. “This happened in one of the busiest intersections in the area, so you’d think more than one person saw something,” Federici said, adding it was “plausible” the possible abduction was a father picking up his child.
