Chris Morley, Premier Dalton McGuinty’s chief of staff, sent an e-mail around to Liberal MPPs and staff members advising them to decline invites to the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) which takes place during the provincial election campaign. “After the legislature is prorogued, we have a single focus: Support our MPPs and candidates to ensure they are successful in the upcoming election,” Morley says. “Accepting invitations to TIFF plays no role in that, so I would ask you to decline any invites you may receive.” A government spokesperson points out there is nothing in the e-mail that prevents staff from purchasing their own tickets and attending on their own time.
