Now, Roy is just finding it too hard to stay away from the game of basketball. It happens all the time with retired players. They find they just love the game too much to stay away. Rasheed Wallace just came back, and you can't really fault Roy for trying."It's hard being away from the game. Don't be surprised if you see Brandon Roy make his way back to the court. There's something to it (it being health related), but it's not the right time for me to get in it right now. … I'm trying to leave the window open…" Roy said, when asked if health reasons made him retire and if he was planning a return to the NBA.Roy ultimately knows he could be a key player on many teams, though he is by no means obligated to return to Portland. The Trail Blazers are off the hook after using their amnesty clause on Roy, and shedding $49 million in remaining contract over three seasons. He could go back to Portland, though. The Blazers have been loyal to Roy and they remain a very good team. Even if Roy had to limit himself to 20-25 minutes a game, he could still contribute by closing out games and quarters with isolation plays, provided he is still able to break down defenders off the dribble, which I think he would be because speed was never his M.O. anyway.Really, Roy has nothing to lose. He could come back and fail, or he could sit around and wonder what could have been.I'd like to see Roy play for a contender, and I certainly think he could make the Blazers legit contenders again. Nicolas Batum is just coming into his own, and Aldridge has had time to mature into a top tier power forward without Roy and Oden in the lineup. The Blazers have received sub-par point guard play from Raymond Felton, but Roy's ball handling would free Felton up to score more, which is his best asset as a player, anyway. So, it makes a lot of sense for Roy to return to Portland. The only thing that is for sure, though, is that he is likely to return somewhere.Source:1) Real GM WIretap2) HoopshypeNote: This article was written by a Yahoo! contributor.
