Harmony Denston (left) and Jenifer Gough give Jenifer’s father Nevin’s 1918 Ford Model T, “Lucy”, a final wash yesterday in preparation for tomorrow’s Winter Solstice Model T rally in Mosgiel.
With its open windows and lack of heating, a Model T may not be the warmest car in which to drive in winter. But there was a group of people “definitely mad enough to do it”, rally organiser Mr Gough said.
Many Model T owners put their cars away for the winter, but Mr Gough thought a midwinter rally would bea good opportunity to drive his car in the colder months.
“It’s just an excuse to get out and drive in the middle of winter, really.”
Up to 15 cars are expected to take part.
Rally participants will meet at the Mosgiel Railway Station between 10am and 10.30am tomorrow.
