But for a sub-par Week 4 showing, LeSean McCoy(notes) has been one of the biggest bright spots during Philadelphia's mostly-disappointing 2011 start. McCoy has 569 yards in six games, fourth-best in the NFC. His 94.8-yards-per-game average ranks him fifth in the league, and he's found the end zone eight times—six on the ground and two on receptions. The Eagles, who entered the season with high hopes and lofty expectations, are just 2-4, but if you're looking to point fingers for the rough start, you won't be able to point one at McCoy.Even that Week 4 stumble was hardly his fault. He rushed for just 18 yards, but he had only nine carries. He did manage to catch six passes for 34 yards and a touchdown, though, so he still factored into Philadelphia's offense. The Eagles know they need to get McCoy involved more, yet the following week, in a 31-24 loss at Buffalo, he carried only 11 times. He did turn those attempts into 80 yards and a touchdown, and caught four passes for 27 more yards. If the Eagles are going to turn around their season, they need to lean on McCoy even more. Andy Reid and Co. had the right idea during Week 6, when they called McCoy's number 28 times in the rushing game, and he rewarded them with 126 yards and a touchdown. It was the third time McCoy has topped 120 yards in a game this season, and the fifth game, out of six, that he's scored a rushing touchdown.McCoy is in his third season, coming off his first 1,000-yard campaign after rushing for 1,080 yards and seven touchdowns in 2010. He's two rushing touchdowns away from a career high after just six games of the 2011 season, and with his current 5.4 yards-per-attempt average, he should top that 1,080 by a large margin. As long as the Eagles continue to hand him the ball, that is.Sources:LeSean McCoy Game LogPhiladelphia Eagles scheduleNFL rushing leadersNote: This article was written by a Yahoo! contributor.
