Leah Remini joins ABC's comedy pilot 'White Van Man'

Actress Leah Remini is set to star in an ABC pilot, White Van Man. Leah Remini at the premiere of “Zookeeper”. (Westwood, CA) This comedy series is based off of a British sitcom of the same name, notes The Hollywood Reporter.The series will follow a man, played by Kyle Bornheimer, who has to take the place of his father, Tony (JK Simmons), in running the family handyman business. This forces him to put his own dreams on hold. As a result of a bad heart, Tony can no longer run the business. Remini will be playing Tony’s sister, Terry, who will be the one to keep him in line when he tries to sneak out and return to working at the business.TV Line reports that Remini’s character is a licensed masseuse and also has a teenage son, played by Jonny Pemberton. Bobby Bowman, who is currently known for FOX’s hit comedy series Raising Hope, will write and executive produce White Van Man along with Mark Gordon, Andrea Shay, and Paul Buccieri. The single-camera comedy will be directed by Michael Fresco.Bowman was also the executive producer of NBC’s comedy, My Name is Earl..Remini was previously a co-host of CBS’s The Talk, but was not asked back to the show. She was also known for starring as Carrie in the popular comedy series, King of Queens.The British series White Van Man first aired in March of 2011 and became a hit.
