Pop star and sanctuary patron Leona Lewis was guest of honour at the event and was also joined at the Sawyers Hall Lane site by Brentwood singer Pixie Lott, Sugarbabe Keisha Buchanan, magician Dynamo, actress Juliet Oldfield and Britain’s Got Talent favourites, Stavros Flatley, who performed on the day. Hundreds of residents were also there to support the sanctuary and meet the stars. X Factor winner and animal lover Leona is on track to reach her goal of raising £100,000 before Christmas to replace some of the sanctuary’s run down facilities. The fete itself raised £14,000. Lianne Angliss, deputy manager, said Leona’s work has generated awareness and donations are coming in, but more support is still needed due to increasing running costs at the site.
