Morning news shows can be a real bore. So much so in fact, that Harry Belafonte couldn’t keep his eyes open for a live TV interview! During an early-morning interview on Friday with KBAK in Bakersfield, Calif., the 84-year-old singer appeared to sleep through his interview. “Hey, good morning, Harry!” newscaster Layla Santiago said to the snoozing singer. “Wake up! Wake up! This is your wakeup call!” PHOTOS: Sizzling seniors But Belafonte didn’t respond. “OK, he’s meditating,” Santiago said,. “He’s taking a little nap… He is okay!” The news anchors tried to contain their laughter. “It’s a little early,” Santiago rationalized. But Belafonte’s spokesperson Ken Sunshine said in a statement that a “technical glitch in the [satellite] feed” caused Friday’s snafu. “His earpiece wasn’t working. so he took a moment to meditate before the rest of his day. Mr. Belafonte is 84 years young, but sharper and more awake than most who have been interviewing him.
