The operation of an air conditioning system for higher priority services is one of the transformations implemented to improve the patience´s quality of assistance.
The implementation of the turbo generator that provides temperatures from 18 to 20 degrees Celsius benefits the Intermediate and Intensive Care, Neonatal Care, predelivery, birth, surgery and observation rooms and Human Milk Bank recently opened.
As reported by Dr. Roger Creagh, director of the Guantánamo Provincial Hospital, the power generator destroys microorganisms that can be present in these services and help prevent and reduce infectious complications.
Dr. Creagh, a specialist at the institution, explained that as part of the transformation it is currently implemented the permanence of the companions with the sick in the rooms, which enables greater collaboration by the patient.
Likewise, the director of Doctor Agosthino Neto General Hospital stressed the importance of the functioning of the Human Milk Bank, a UNICEF project in Guantanamo of big economic impact to reduce low birth weights, one of the indicators that affect the mother-child program in the territory.
