The Los Angeles Galaxy announced on March 22 that they will host English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur in an international friendly at the Home Depot Center on July 24. The Galaxy are hosting an international friendly at the Home Depot Center for the fourth season in a row. This will be the second year in a row that L.A. hosts a Premier League team. Last season, the Galaxy fell on penalty kicks to Manchester City after playing regulation to a 1-1 draw. Our side has also hosted AC Milan (2-2 draw in 2009) and Boca Juniors (1-0 L.A. win in 2010) at the Home Depot Center.Galaxy Chief Operating Officer Chris McGowan said about the matchup with Spurs, "We are delighted to be able to bring another top quality international friendly for our loyal and passionate fans here at The Home Depot Center. Tottenham Hotspur are one of the top clubs in the world and are enjoying a fantastic season in the Premier League. This is sure to be one of the biggest sporting events of the summer here in Southern California and we are excited to be able to share this with Pechanga as our presenting sponsor and soccer fans everywhere."Tottenham is enjoying a fine season in the EPL, currently sitting in fourth place at 16-6-7 (54 points). The Galaxy's MLS season has just begun and it has seen a big loss and a big win. Tottenham's chairman, Daniel Levy, pointed to the relationship of the two clubs, "We are delighted to have the opportunity to open our U.S. tour against the current MLS Cup Champions, LA Galaxy. With one of our former strikers Robbie Keane and David Beckham, who spent time training with us at Tottenham Hotspur, lining up for the Galaxy, there is a strong relationship between the two Clubs and we are looking forward to the chance to renew old friendships."As exciting as the friendly seems, it is important to remember that some of the players will be in London for the 2012 Olympics. Nevertheless, I'm always interested to see how the Galaxy stack up against international competition.More from Patrick Johnston:Galaxy No. 3 in Week Two MLS Power RankingsRobbie Keane never doubted himself during slow startRobbie Keane's double leads Galaxy past D.C.
