January 19, 2012 11:10PM Updated: January 20, 2012 12:04PM The second significant snowfall of the season is expected to hit the Chicago area Friday, leaving up to 7 inches in the northern sections of the Chicago area and likely about 4 inches in the Southland by Saturday morning.The Chicago area could see up to 1 inch of new snow per hour during the heaviest part of the storm Friday afternoon during rush hour, when roads could become snow-covered and difficult to maintain, according to the National Weather Service. Airport delays are also possible.Friday’s high is expected to be near 20, and it will not be as cold Friday night as the subzero temperatures in outlying areas Thursday night, the weather service said. Friday night’s low should be in the low teens.The good news is that we’re in for a warm-up over the weekend, with highs in the low to mid 30s Saturday and Sunday. Sun-Times Media
