Daniel S Levine The first trailer for The Raven, which stars John Cusack and Luke Evans, was released today. The film is not due out until March 9, 2012, but this teaser is a nice look at the film, which is directed by James McTeigue, whose directorial debut was V For Vendetta in 2006. The Raven is about a series of murders that all bear a striking resemblance to the work of poet Edgar Allen Poe, as Entertainment Weekly notes. Poe, played by Cusack, is brought in to help the police investigate. Detective Emmett Fields, played by Evans, leads the case. The trailer references murders which are references of “The Raven” and “The Pit and the Pendulum.” It does look like McTeigue’s visual style is taking a nod from Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes, as Cinema Blend points out, but it is easy to see how the same man who did V For Vendetta made this film. Also starring in the film are Alice Eve, Brendan Gleeson and Oliver Jackson-Cohen, according to the film’s Apple page. You can enjoy the trailer right here:
