Basically, what you got from Brandon Inge is a .234 hitter who averaged 16 homers and 68 RBI.For years, the Tigers tried to bring other players in to replace Inge. Maybe that was the reason for turning on him. Heck, if management doesn’t think the guy can play, why should the fans?Be it Miguel Cabrera, Wilson Betemit or Don Kelly, Inge was like the Eveready Bunny as he kept going and going and going — nothing special, just average.Every time the Tigers brought someone in to replace Inge, Inge insisted he could play. Maybe that was it. Bad attitude, not a team player.Tell that to Alex Avila, who said Inge treated him like a younger brother for years when Avila was just a kid hanging around the clubhouse.Was it time for Inge to go?Sure. In 102 games last year, Inge hit just .197 with three homers and 23 RBI. In 20 plate appearances this year, Inge was batting a meager .100 with two hits in 20 plate appearances.Inge was not the reason the Tigers won the AL Central Division crown in 2011 or the main cog on the World Series team, nor the reason they lost 119 games in 2003.He was Brandon Inge.
