Dexter will soon be back on our TV screens (not soon enough….we hear you) and EW have just published the first promotional picture from the sixth season of the hit Showtime show.

Our favourite ever serial killer can be seen in the shot, bending over a dead body (what’s new?) but this time it isn’t one of his victims, he’s working in his official capacity as witness blood splatter analyst. The body looks pretty badly stitched up and Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) is holding a clear evidence bag of what looks suspiciously like baby snakes?

Executive producer Scott Buck told the publication:

“That is the first mysterious kill linked to Professor Gellar that’s going to cross Dexter’s path and let him know that he’s up against a killer, the likes of which he hasn’t seen before.”

“This is a person who’s sending out a message, and Dexter can’t wait to figure out what that message is.”

The handyman who delivered the message to Dex is of course Edward James Olmos’ character Professor Gellar.

Buck previously described the new baddie as a ‘different kind of killer’ and more in line with the Zodiac Killer, who we met previously.
