Saturday’s rare October nor’easter’s heavy, wet snow weighed down trees and branches, knocking out power across the state and CL&P reports it may take more than a week to restore service to all customers. Crews are reportedly working around the clock until restoration efforts are complete. CL&P reports that, unlike tropical storm Irene, the Oct. 29 storm caused significant damage to transmission lines in central and northwest Connecticut, complicating restoration efforts. These lines bring power from where electricity is made to the wires that supply neighborhoods.Restoration projections are available online at cl-p.com/stormcenter/estimates. Yesterday, Nov. 1, there were more than 770 line and tree crews at work across the state. Staging areas were set up at Lake Compounce in Bristol, the former Timex building in Middlebury and Fairfield Hills in Newtown.Critical customers for power restoration include schools, waste water treatment plants and town centers, so resident can access important services. – Press release
