Sun photograph by LISA YANICK-JONAITIS Spread over three floors at the Central Michigan University Events Center was sprawling with activity during the first annual “Grand A’ffare” Wednesday.An event by the Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce, the Grand A’ffare was formerly the Mt. Pleasant Business Expo, and area merchants showed their wares, offered samples and provided information.In addition to providing food for the event, Classic Fare Catering was giving away a new dessert concoction at a booth in the Parfitt gymnasium.Carrie Rojas, sales manager for Classic Fare, a CMU-based caterer that provides food both on- and off-campus, said the dessert “shooters” are the perfect size for those who don’t want a heavy treat.Rojas was giving away several flavors, including s’mores, lemon crumble, orange dreamsickle, strawberry cream pie and raspberry dream.“The sky’s the limit,” she said. “We an customize them for holiday events or certain flavors someone would like.”Rojas was also showing those attending the event the caterer’s new menu and offering samples of bacon roasted almonds, a variety of cheeses, panko breaded chicken breast, and an assortment of breads and crackers with baked brie.Classic Fare caters as far as locations about an hour away from Mt. Pleasant and can whip up a variety of dishes, Rojas said.“We can really do anything,” she said. “We work with the customers’ budget.”Classic Fare caters open houses, receptions, holiday parties and “anything that has a need for food,” Rojas said.Classic Fare is providing most of the food for the Alumni Village at Saturday’s homecoming game, she said.All the orders are in, and workers are in the planning stage for that event, Rojas said.A crew from Classic Fare is also providing concessions at the Chris Tucker concert Saturday at the Events Center.
